Melle Day 2

This morning we all got up early, got dressed, and went to school. We had English, Pysics, Chemistry, Spanish, math, and more. Then we met the principal who welcomed us warmly with cookies and drink.

Then the Melle students gave us a tour of both the school and the town in German. Melle is over 800 years old and has beautiful architecture and nature. It was a good day even though it was raining.
(Ben Liam's partner explaining a sight.)

(Nele Elieen's partner telling us about the city)

I was able to talk with each of the students and they seem all well taken care of and adjusting to their new homes.  I will not write on the blog again until Monday because it is now the weekend and the students are with their families. Some are traveling as far as Amsterdam and Hamburg. Others will explore areas closer to Melle. All will have adventures and hopefully get to their hosts well. I look forward to hearing from them on Monday.
(Notice how the small group doubles in size! 25 teenagers getting to know each other, new languages, and new cultures. It's a beautiful thing.

  2. WOW! Melle, established for 800 years. The area looks so quaint and pristine and even a glimpse of the school cafeteria, bright and cheerful.I'm sure the classes visited were just as enlightening as the combining of cultures. We are so appreciative of the opportunity to "tag-along"(via the blog) and thankful to the schools, teachers and families for taking such good care of our kids. Danke sehr.
