Melle Monday

After the weekend today we were back in school. The students all looked very happy and content with their families. There is a cold going around that has hit most of us but it doesn't seem to be stopping us from enjoying Germany. Some students went to Hamburg. Some went to Köln or Düsseldorf. Several made it to the Netherlands. Some stayed closer and went to swim parks, castles, and little villages. The groups are mixing very well - the best I've seen - and I am glad.

After a couple hours of classes we went on a bike tour in the countryside and villages around Melle. 25 students, 4 teachers, 29 bikes, and 1 radio. We went all around including up big hills and then down again. 18 kilometers!

Along the way we stopped in a village to rest and the keeper of the village church invited us in for a tour. (Brave man! We filled the church.) It was built about 1000 AD and was full of art treasures.

At the end of the school day we told the students "Tschüß" and they rode off to their host homes and whatever the evening will bring for them. (Perhaps a nap after all that physical and mental exercise). Tomorrow we have a day trip to Bremen.
