Wittenberg Day

Hey this is Ryan Straub writing. We left Berlin bright and early today tired and sluggish from the walking and touring of Berlin over the last days. We slept on the train and We then arrived in Wittenberg. A small but growing town where Martin Luther originally nailed his 95 thesis to the door of the castle church. We went into the historic church to look at the inside.

After that we had some free time and walked along the small shop lined street buying the peddlers wares. That was amazing, so much fun walking and practicing our German. We REALLY had to use German when we had a tour of the printing press, Martin Luther and the history of printing in the 1500's. All in German. Every last word.

As we left Wittenberg we were all exhausted and most of us fell asleep on the train. That's when we had some hiccups. The train schedule changed on us and we had to play the train station version of musical chairs, but with trains instead of chairs and is with all our luggage instead of a single person. But it all ended up working out and we just had to stay an extra 10 mins at a little town us students named Sauce Town, DEU.

We finally arrived at the final destination: Weimar. A very low, quaint city with smooth cobblestones and the houses of Germany's most celebrated intellectuals. After some walking we are now at the youth hostile where I wrote this. Good night.  - Ryan Straub

  3. Danke schon to everyone for sharing the photos and journal. Every memory shared . . . brings a special smile to my face. Savour all that is and all that has been as you trek the map that Frau Green has so meticulously planned for this "once-in-a-lifetime" journey. Godspeed.
